About ALEA
What is ALEA (Active Learning English Academy) What We Do: We focus on developing all oral language acquisition modalities including receptive, productive, and interactive. We provide a curriculum that is fun and engaging for students, which is much more conducive to learning because it provides a relaxed learning environment and allows students to have a lower affective filter. We focus on developing vocabulary within expressions that are needed for effective communication. Our target students are 80% beginners. A “true beginner” is a student who has never studied any English before. A beginner English student is focused on learning essential vocabulary, such as family names, household objects, basic adjectives, and place names. Beginners are also becoming familiar with subject pronouns, frequently used verbs, and modal expressions. We teach writing skills, including letter and word formation and simple sentence construction. Also, we teach introductory reading skills including reading fluency and monitoring for sense-making with ALEA controlled vocabulary.
